MediaPortal è un software Open Source che trasforma il Pc in sistema multimediale completo. Con un'unico programma è possibile: ascoltare e gestire i file musicali; ascoltare stazioni radio trasmesse in streaming, o su segnali Dvb e Fm; guardare film in formato Dvd; sintonizzarsi su stazioni televisive e registrare programmi Tv trasmessi su segnali analogici e digitali; essere informato in tempo reale sulle previsioni del tempo; visualizzare e gestire le immagini personali. Supporta i nuovi formati Dvb-C, Dvb-T, Dvb-S e HdTv.

Per utilizzare questo programma è necessario installare .NET Framework 2.0.

MediaPortal è un software completo per la gestione dei file multimediali
Supporta diversi sintonizzatori TV/Radio analogici e digitali permettendo di registrare i programmi in onda o di programmare la registrazione in un determinato orario
Tramite MediaPortal è possibile interrogare il database IMDB per ottenere informazioni sui file video (autore, titolo, genere, anno ect ect) e sui file audio (artista, genere, titolo album ect ect)
MediaPortal gestisce anche le immagini/foto permettendo diverse operazioni come la creazione di gallerie fotografiche con o senza audio o lo zoom sulle immagini
Infine tramite MediaPortal è possibile ottenere informazioni sulle condizioni meteorologiche della città desiderata.
