CloneDVD 2 copia Film su DVD a una qualità impareggiabile. Che sia un DVD completo o solo il filmato principale - CloneDVD riesce a comprimere anche i film più lunghi mantenendo la massima qualità e impiegando pochissimo tempo. Utilizzando una speciale tecnologia di transcodifica puoi, una volta scelto come comprimere le varie parti dei DVD e quale lingua mantenere, ottenere automaticamente la dimenzione finale. Utilizzando il Film Strip verrai aiutato nell'impostare tutti i settaggi. Utilizzando l'anteprima puoi scegliere cosa mantenere e cosa eliminare, potrai anche tagliare singoli capitoli. Per chi non vuole scaricarla la metto anche in chiaro

Clone DVD 2 ha un'interfaccia utente molto semplice ed intuitiva, le possibili scelte presenti nell’aprire il programma sono:

1. Copia parti DVD (permette di copiare parti del dvd su dvd -/+ R o su disco fisso).
2. Clona DVD (permette di copiare tutto il contenuto del dvd su dvd -/+ R o su disco fisso)
3. Scrivi dati esistenti: masterizza su dvd -/+ R i files ifo e vob oppure l'immagine ISO memorizzata su disco fisso).
Le prime due scelte sono simili quindi basterà analizzare i singoli passi di configurazione per poter avviare la Transcodifica video correttamente.

La prima finestra che ci è presentata permette di effettuare la Configurazione Parti.

Qui bisogna selezionare il percorso dei file sorgenti nella casella File Video DVD, nel caso si utilizzi AnyDVD bisogna selezionare la cartella VIDEO_TS del DVD, o la cartella dove abbiamo precedentemente rippato il film se abbiamo usato un altro software di decriptazione.
CONSIGLIO: se il Vostro DVD è codificato CSS, apparirà un messaggio d'errore e CloneDVD 2 non potrà caricare il Vostro DVD.

Sulla parte sinistra potete vedere le informazioni relative al film, mentre sulla destra vengono elencate le Parti Video che lo compongono, la casella con la durata maggiore corrisponde al Film, le altre caselle presenti nella sezione destra rappresentano i contenuti extra. E’ comunque possibile vedere i contenuti di ogni Parte Video passando dalla scheda informazioni alla scheda anteprima. In ogni situazione è comunque possibile cambiare la selezione delle Parti Video secondo le vostre preferenze. Le Scelte iniziali di copia (1 o 2) conservano una preselezione di opzioni per rendere il programma più facile da utilizzare.

Questa funzione è utile per scegliere quali titoli includere nel nostro backup. (Suggeriamo che è meglio evitare di aggiungere troppi contenuti extra per non penalizzare la qualità video, in questo senso CloneDVD indica in verde fino al 68% circa di qualità ed è bene non spingersi oltre questi livelli di compressione).

Un’opzione è quella di poter tagliare parte del film, tramite l’icona delle forbici. Questo può tornare utile per tagliare i titoli di coda del film, anche se bisogna dire che non è una soluzione molto elegante nel caso di film che presentano finali di lunga durata è una possibilità da tenere in considerazione. L’uso è semplice, basta cliccare sulle forbici e trascinare verso sinistra la barra fino al punto da cui cominciare a tagliare.

Altra opzione è quella che vi permette di scegliere il formato di output della compressione video e contempla questi formati Dvd–5 , Dvd+/-R DL , Mini DVD, Dvd-ram, Cd–r e personalizzato. La barra colorata della Qualità indica in percentuale il fattore di compressione dell’originale rispetto al formato di output scelto.

Inoltre se volete dividere un film con angolazioni multiple, tagliate gli stessi capitoli per ogni angolazione. Potete riconoscere facilmente la parti con differenti angolazioni, poiché ogni angolazione ha esattamente lo stesso tempo di riproduzione. Se non volete copiare il menù del DVD, ma decidete di selezionare più parti, dovete specificare quale parte sarà riprodotta all'inserimento del DVD ("FirstPlay"). Per selezionare la parte "FirstPlay", tutto quello che dovete fare è cliccare alla sinistra della riga "Durata" della parte scelta - un piccolo triangolo verde vi indicherà la parte FirstPlay. Automaticamente viene preselezionata la parte più lunga (che è solitamente il film principale). Potete modificare la velocità di riproduzione (1x-8x) utilizzando il tasto destro del mouse dentro al pannello di anteprima. Potete inoltre aumentare la dimensione del pannello, selezionando dal menu “Adatta”. Con “Cos’è questo?” aprirete l’aiuto contestuale.

Cliccando su Avanti si accede alla finestra Impostazioni audio e sottotitoli.

Adesso dobbiamo impostare le opzioni riguardanti le tracce audio ed i sottotitoli, anche qui l'indicazione è quella di cercare di risparmiare spazio, quindi scegliete solo l'audio che vi interessa: dalla finestra "preferenze tracce" come mostrato in figura, potete scegliere quali lingue e sottotitoli mantenere e quali altri eliminare. Se è presente una scelta sui canali audio, conviene togliere l'audio 2 canali (che è quello tradizionale stereo) e il DTS (perché occupa molto spazio) e lasciare solo l'audio 6 canali AC-3 è l’audio dolby surround per i sistemi home theater). Come per la schermata precedente anche qui selezionando o deselezionando i linguaggi avrete modo di valutare il livello di qualità/compressione del vostro backup tramite la barra colorata in basso. Le impostazioni selezionate in questa finestra saranno memorizzate come vostre preferenze per il successivo utilizzo.

Consiglio: CloneDVD memorizza solo le impostazioni e le preferenze nella parte destra. Vi raccomandiamo di selezionare le impostazioni che preferite sulla destra (preferenze) e di correggere le impostazioni di ogni singola parte solo se necessario.

Cliccando su avanti si accede alla finestra che permette di scegliere La Destinazione.

La finestra e divisa in due sezioni, nella parte sinistra, troverete un indice dei titoli e delle proprietà dai Voi selezionate. Nella parte destra, potete scegliere la modalità di scrittura. Qui possiamo notare la presenza di tre possibili scelte, cliccando “File Dvd” potete fare in modo che siano creati tutti file necessari alla struttura del Dvd. In un secondo tempo potete masterizzare questi file tramite La scelta dal menu iniziale Creazione Dai Esistenti e completare cosi il Dvd. Selezionando questa opzione occorrerà inserire la destinazione dove salvare i file ISO/VOB contenenti il Dvd.

Cliccando sul bottone “Immagine ISO/UDF” sarà possibile creare un’immagine ISO del Dvd che potrete masterizzare in un secondo tempo utilizzando la scelta dal menu iniziale Creazione Dai Esistenti oppure utilizzando altri programmi di masterizzazione.

Infine se si utilizza l’opzione “Masterizzatore Dvd” bisogna impostare la velocità di masterizzazzione (quella di default e la massima velocità ma io suggerisco una velocità Max di 8X per conservare una compatibilità maggiore tra supporto masterizzato e lettore Dvd da tavolo) e l’etichetta del Dvd.
Il mio personale suggerimento, specie se siete alle prime esperienze nel backup di dvd, è quello di creare i file .vob sul hard disk, in modo da poterli visionare con programma tipo Power DVD, in questo modo se il risultato ottenuto non vi dovesse piacere, potreste tranquillamente cancellare i files e procedere ad una nuova codifica.

Consiglio: se volete effettuare una copia direttamente su un DVD, potete selezionare la velocità di scrittura che preferite. Se selezionate la velocità “Massima”, il Vostro masterizzatore deciderà a quale velocità effettuare la scrittura. Potrebbero esserci errori di comunicazione tra il masterizzatore e il supporto DVD. E’ quindi raccomandato impostare la velocità come scritto sul Vostro supporto DVD.

A questo punto basta ciccare il pulsante “VIA” per avviare il processo di codifica, la durata di tale processo e ovviamente legata alla velocità del processore e può variare da 10 minuti ad oltre 1 ora per i più lenti.

La terza scelta del menu principale SCRIVI DATI ESISTENTI

permette di accedere al menu “Tipologia Sorgente e Destinazione” il programma provvederà in automatico a selezionare la cartella di elaborazione video spuntando la casella File Film in Dvd a questo punto basta selezionare la velocità prescelta (quella di default e la massima) ed inserire il nome dell’etichetta che si vuole dare al DVD. In alternativa come Sorgente e possibile selezionare Immagine ISO/UDF selezionando nella casella sottostante il percorso di origine dei dati e premere il tasto "Via" per dare inizio alla fase di scrittura del disco.
