[Silver Surfer]

VLC (inizialmente battezzato col nome di VideoLAN Client) è un player multimediale che permette di riprodurre praticamente tutti i formati audio/video più diffusi (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, MP3, OGG e così via) oltre a DVD, VideoCD (VCD) e ad altri protocolli di streaming.
Il programma supporta tutti i principali codec audio/video (compresi DivX e XVid): non è quindi necessario installare alcunché sul vostro personal computer per visualizzare filmati memorizzati in tali formati.
L'interfaccia di VLC è completamente personalizzabile grazie alla grande varietà di "skin" disponibili.
Da non trascurare la possibilità di configurare il programma per funzionare come server (supporta sia il protocollo IPv4 che IPv6) in unicast/multicast per l'invio in Rete di contenuti multimediali su connessioni a banda larga.
La versione che vi proponiamo è quella per Windows. VLC è comunque altamente portabile: sono state infatti sviluppate versioni per tutti i sistemi operativi (Linux, Mac OS X, BeOS, FreeBSD, Solaris,...)

Può essere utilizzato come server unicast o multicast su protocolli IPv4 e IPv6 con connessioni a larga banda.
