SCOPRIRE GLI OCEANI CON GOOGLE EARTH

[ansa]- Dopo aver dato la possibilità di planare sulle città e di ammirare le stelle da vicino, con la nuova versione di Google Earth 5.0, presentata oggi in contemporanea in tutto il mondo e scaricabile gratuitamente, ci si potrà tuffare negli abissi marini restando nell'asciutto delle nostre case.

Come novelli Jacques Cousteau potremo esplorare i fondali marini e navigare tra i contenuti forniti da famosi oceanografi, alla scoperta delle aree marine protette, all'inseguimento delle balene in migrazione, e vedere il letale impatto dell'inquinamento sulla temperatura dell'acqua e sull'ecosistema marino.

La grande novità dell'ultima versione di Earth (che dal suo lancio nel 2005 ha registrato oltre 500 milioni di download unici) è infatti la funzione Google Ocean, accompagnata da 'La macchina del tempo', Marte in 3D, dalla possibilità di creare dei propri tour e dalla funzione 'Gps tracking' per uploadare gli itinerari dai dispositivi Gps. La funzione per la scoperta degli oceani nasce, oltre che da quello spirito enciclopedico che contraddistingue la stessa idea del motore di ricerca ideato da Larry Page e Sergey Brin, da una 'linea verde' incentrata sulla sensibilizzazione per i temi ambientali.

A confermarlo è il Ceo della società che ha sede nella Silicon Valley, Eric Schmidt: "Nelle discussioni sui cambiamenti climatici, gli oceani sono spesso sottostimati", ha spiegato Schmidt, nonostante essi ricoprano oltre il 70% della superficie del pianeta e circa l'80% della vita terrestre si trovi sott'acqua. "La biodiversità che si teme subirà danni nei nostri oceani nei prossimi 20-30 anni - ha continuato - equivale più o meno alla perdita dell'intera foresta pluviale amazzonica".

Ocean, sviluppato in due anni dal suggerimento dell'oceanografa Sylvia Earle, comprende 20 livelli di contenuti con informazioni (video, immagini e altro) fornite da scienziati e oceanografi tra cui 'Esplora l'oceanò, 'Aree marine protette', 'Monitoraggio animali', 'Zone morte', 'Stato di salute degli oceani', 'Relitti di navi', 'Censimento della vita marina' e 'Gli oceani di Cousteau'. Tutto a portata di mano: la barriera corallina australiana, la Fossa delle Marianne o il più vicino Mar Mediterraneo.

Non manca una parte ludica con le segnalazioni aperte agli utenti, dal sito wannasurf.com, degli angoli migliori dove fare surf, kite-surf o immersioni. Ma un altro strumento del nuovo Earth che catturerà gli utenti è sicuramente la 'Macchina del tempo'. Si potrà tornare nel passato cliccando sull'icona dell'orologio nella parte alta dello schermo e arrivare fino a dove la disponibilità di immagini satellitari e aeree storiche lo permettono: in alcuni casi anche fino agli anni Quaranta.

Correre indietro fino a rivedere al loro posto le Torri gemelle o seguire la costruzione degli stadi dei Mondiali di calcio del 2006, ma anche monitorare lo scioglimento dei poli o la desertificazione nell'Africa subsahariana. Tutti i viaggi sperimentati si potranno registrare con la nuova funzione 'Tour', per poi riviverli o condividerli con gli amici. Inoltre, c'é la funzione 'Monitoraggio Gps' che consente di tracciare rotte personali, mentre ai viaggi virtuali nello spazio si aggiunge la destinazione Marte, con tour 3D e immagini ad alta definizione del mitico Pianeta Rosso.[/ansa]

[softonic]Google Earth è molto più di un atlante geografico. È un modo di iniziare a scoprire il mondo. Di imparare a non avere paura degli spazi. E forse di realizzare i sogni che avevi da bambino. Usarlo è davvero un gioco da ragazzi. Unica raccomandazione per far funzionare bene il programma: avere un PC moderno con prestazioni abbastanza elevate

Quando ero bambina sognavo due cose. Di volare. E di fare l’esploratrice. Volevo vedere il mondo. E sapevo bene che farlo era difficile. Se Google Earth fosse esistito a quell’epoca avrei potuto vivere subito una versione virtuale di quei sogni.

Google Earth è un popolarissimo software gratuito che ti permette di osservare il mondo attraverso un collage di mappe e immagini satellitari e il suo potente motore di ricerca. Ogni luogo esplorato sul pianeta è facilmente raggiungibile da chiunque. Con Google Earth puoi svolazzare sul Grand Canyon o sull’Everest. In un paio di secondi. Piombare in mezzo al Colosseo e fermarti un attimo ad orientarti sulla punta di una piramide. Inoltrarti nello spazio profondo e scoprire galassie e costellazioni da vicino. Esplorare la Luna e sentirti come il primo uomo nello spazio. Immergerti negli oceani ed ammirare la barriera corallina. Andare indietro nel tempo e scoprire come cambiano i paesaggi.

Digita la tua destinazione e Google Earth ti catapulterà su di essa, offrendoti un’ampia visuale delle strade e degli edifici e segnalandoti monumenti, negozi, ristoranti, hotel, statistiche, confini, scuole e molto altro ancora: è facile, basta selezionare il livello che preferisci. Puoi anche trovare informazioni, curiosità e fotografie che gli altri utenti hanno condiviso e aggiungere le tue. Con Google Earth è facilissimo creare dei segnalini per evidenziare i tuoi luoghi di interesse e con un clic puoi passare a Google Maps e stampare percorsi e mappe.

Inoltre, il magnanimo Google ha voluto fare una sorpresa ai suoi utenti: ha nascosto in Google Earth un simulatore di volo (senza contare il sottomarino). È stato uno studente sudafricano di origini italiane a scoprirlo e a condividere il segreto attraverso le pagine del suo blog. Digitando una semplice combinazione di tasti (CTRL+ALT+A) ha aperto per caso una finestra che gli ha proposto due diversi aerei. Puoi farlo anche tu. Scegli un velivolo e inizia la tua esplorazione a volo di uccello sul pianeta (i comandi li trovi descritti qui). Adesso puoi anche registrare le tue esplorazioni. Con Google Earth sei completamente libero di andare dove vuoi. E scommetto che non avresti mai sperato di sentirtelo dire.

Durante l'installazione è necessario essere connessi a Internet, poiché il file di setup scaricherà il software completo dal server del produttore.

Esiste una versione più ricca di funzionalità e con GPS: Google Earth Pro.

Google Earth è un tool gratuito offerto dal colosso di Mountain View con il quale è possibile sorvolare l'intero pianeta osservando le immagini fornite dai satelliti di mappe, terreno ed edifici 3D.

Persino Marte, la Luna, la galassia e i fondali oceanici possono essere esplorati dal potente software. Il quale da la possibilità di salvare i luoghi visitati durante i propri tour e condividerli con altri utenti.

Google Earth annovera fra le sue funzioni principali anche la possibilità di visualizzare immagini storiche, informazioni oceanografiche e tour semplificati con registrazioni audio. Fornendo le coordinate geografiche o anche gli indirizzi è possibile navigare l'intera Terra, esplorabile anche con il mouse. I dettagli di maggior parte delle grandi città sono disponibili in alta risoluzione. In totale, la media di risoluzione sull'intera crosta terreste è di 15 metri.
